Noguchi Custom Typeface

This project proposes a custom typeface and generator designed to promote The Noguchi Museum in New York. The typeface was derived from the sculptural forms of Isamu Noguchi’s work, with the aim of serving as an interactive and educational tool to promote interest in the museum, as well as to introduce users and viewers to his wide-ranging body of work.

Using the generator, users can covert any text into the custom typeface, with applications ranging from small printed postcards to subway posters, as well as in digital touchpoints. Noguchi once described his work as “useless architecture, useful sculpture.” With his sculptures translated into readable type, his work is given a new functionality.
